Can a Fairfield County Skunk climb a fence?

Skunks are a wild Fairfield County animal species and they have long claws and sharp teeth.
- They have adapted to the presence of humans and build dens under porches, in the attics and under wood piles.
- They harass chickens and eat their eggs as they love the taste of them.
- They are wild animals so they have tons of diseases in them and their bodily fluids and feces. Commonly they are not considered as welcome guests inside human neighborhoods.

Investing in a good fence
Fairfield County skunks are not the greatest of climbers but investing in a good fence will usually remove the problem of them coming in your household or property. Using metal materials to build your fence is going to make the climbing significantly harder for their long nails.

Not so good climbers
Connecticut skunks are not the best climbers. They can’t climb trees, although small fences are not that hard for them to climb over. Their long nails are their natural handicap for their climbing technique. Raising a fence to keep away skunks should be in L shape in order to keep them out of your property. Keep in mind not to trap them in and especially not to trap them out when it is their nesting season and they already have babies inside your property.

Good diggers
Skunks may prove as bad climbers but they are really good diggers. If they cannot climb your fence it doesn’t mean that they cannot dig under it. If you are trying to keep them away – bury your fence a few feet into the ground to prevent them from digging under it. Killing and trapping the skunks is inhumane and you should avoid doing it. Whenever you kill a Fairfield County skunk you are making a room for a new one to come. If you can’t control them and cannot evict them out of your property consider calling in the professionals to come and help you. Most wildlife companies have very humane ways in dealing with skunks, so you are just a few calls and a few bucks away from dealing with your problem.
